Glade Festival returns with Funktion One

http://www.audioprointernational.com/news/read/the-glade-festival-returns-with-funktion-one/03341

Launched off the back of the Glastonbury stage of the same name, Glade was set up as a non-corporate, unsponsored event for the creative dance and electronic music scene. The festival has had its share of problems in the past, as after moving to a new location in Winchester, UK in 2009, new policing, security and stewarding requirements enforced by the council, combined with the local police's refusal to work with the organisers imposed additional logistical and economical strains on the festival making it impossible to host.

The organisers held this year’s festival in 2011, and although it relocated to Norfolk, it endeavoured to retain the underground spirit of the festival. This was helped in no small part by Funktion One, whose speakers were featured on both of the Glade’s main stages and throughout the site on many of the independent Nano Stages.

Trentemøller, Dirty Vegas and Andrew Weatherall graced the main stage for the 2011 event, which featured left and right stacks of four F221 dual-21-inch cabinets, topped with eight Resolution 5 mid-high boxes, configured in two rows – a bottom row of five and a top row of three. The fall analogue system was powered by MC2 and controlled by XTA, with a Midas XL4 at FOH.

F-1 and Audio Plus collaborated on the Origin Stage to deliver the 3D, ambisonic soundfield experience during sets by the likes of Antix and Form. A six-stack rig was arranged in a geometrically-perfect hexagon around the audience, which included main front stacks of three F221 and five Res 5 per side, with smaller stacks consisting of one F121 and one Resolution 3 forming the other four points of the hexagon. The system was was powered by MC2 and controlled by XTA.

Woodstock stage Wiki info

http://woodstock.wikia.com/wiki/Stage

The main stage was made of wood and was built shortly before the festival, organized by Chip Monk. It was about 20 × 15 × 15 meters and was covered by a big canvas. The towers for the speakers were made of metal and arranged all over the area. Everything was removed after the festival.

In order to speed-up the changeover the stage had a turnable platform which was sperated into two parts. The idea was to use the front for playing and the back for setting up the equipment of the next band so they only had to turn the platform around. Unfortunately the equipment was too heavy for the podest so the castors broke soon and it couldn't be turned anymore. The crew had to go back to traditional set-up and tear-down.

Opposite the stage was the FoH (Front of House which hosts sound and light engineers, soundboard, etc.) in a primitive tent. At the back was the recording equipment. Everything was recording on two eight-track recorders which was later used for official releases and the movie.
